Spitalfields Music £36,000 (pro rata, 0.7 FTE, £25.2k) Closing date 09 December 2019
The Director of Learning, Participation & Projects works closely with the Chief Executive, office team and Board to devise and implement an ambitious Learning & Participation programme as part of Spitalfields Music’s vision and business plan. They have responsibility currently for the two Learning & Participation Producers, and from Autumn 2020 it is likely that they would also line manage the Festival Producer (currently a freelance role, managed by the Chief Executive).

The role acts as the overall producer and commissioner for the Learning & Participation programme, overseeing the Producers in the delivery of a high-quality programme of annual projects that respond to the specific needs of the community and innovatively connects participation work to Spitalfields Music’s annual festival. The postholder will lead on key partnerships and will work closely with the development team to establish a strategic pipeline of plans for future years, and create and implement a new framework to capture the impact of the programme. They will also work with the Artistic Curators to ensure Festival themes are integrated with Learning & Participation, and vice versa.

Finally, the role will support the governance of the charity, including board meetings; be the key staff contact for the Programme Advisory Group; and deputise for the Chief Executive on occasion.
We are looking for an experienced education specialist, seeking a senior role in an award-winning music charity. The successful candidate will likely have over five years’ experience, with management familiarity, and be interested in a role where they can operate at a senior level and help influence the future of music participation and leadership in the UK.
