BACKGROUND

Our mission is for every child to have a high quality and regular musical education starting with singing. We are an award-winning national charity working with schools, academies and Music Education Hubs across the country to deliver our unique programmes. Our intensive teacher development models support whole school improvement through musical learning and music-making in nurseries, primary and secondary schools.

Voices Foundation’s Board of Trustees is seeking an outstanding and talented individual with strong business acumen and a passion for music education to fulfil the role of Interim Chief Executive (maternity cover). We are looking for a confident leader who will inspire, motivate and support staff, practitioners, donors and stakeholders. We need a dynamic Interim Chief Executive to play an important part in helping us to continue the organisation’s development through the implementation of our strategy. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate particular strengths in supporting the team by providing consistent focus and clarity on priorities. They will also have the experience required to drive a continued improvement in fundraising and school recruitment as this is a key priority for the organisation.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Interim Chief Executive (Maternity Cover) is responsible to the Board of Trustees for leading the Voices Foundation [VF]. The post holder is responsible for working with the Chair to ensure that the Board regularly assesses VF’s vision and strategy, and monitors annual plans and targets. The Interim Chief Executive is also responsible for the management and administration of the charity and its staff in the execution of the Board’s plans and policies. In particular, the Interim Chief Executive is responsible for developing the musical and educational rigour of the charity’s programmes, managing the workforce to work effectively and raising income from partners and funders.
