Job Overview

Orchestra of the Swan (OOTS) is a professional chamber orchestra with orchestral residencies in Stratford upon Avon, at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, The Courtyard Hereford and (from Jan 2021) at Coventry University. With a national and international reputation, OOTS performs around 45 concerts per year, supported by a nationally recognised programme of community activity in care homes, dementia cafés and schools regionally.

OOTS is now looking for an experienced Marketing & Digital Audiences Manager to take ownership of its marketing efforts both in print and online, delivering on the company’s goals.


• Develop, manage, and deliver OOTS Marketing & Digital Strategy within OOTS overarching strategic direction
• Manage the marketing budget, build relationships with suppliers and negotiate best possible deals
• Liaise and network with venues/marketing managers/promoters/artists to build opportunities for fee paying engagements
• Work with the MD, Artistic Director & Development Manager to deliver regular press releases; connect with influential media outlets and journalists to place stories to enhance our media profile
• Source advertising opportunities in the press/radio and online
• Work with the graphic designer to manage and deliver the production of all print marketing materials: season brochure, leaflets, posters, flyers, concert programmes, Friends HighNotes magazine, adhering to a strict timetable of mailshots
• Develop and maintain the orchestra’s CRM (CiviCRM) database system, importing and exporting data when necessary for mailshots and e-newsletters
and deduping data as required
• Manage and maintain OOTS website and social media channels working with the Artistic Director, Managing Director and Director of Impact & Learning to create content - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, OOTS YouTube Channel
• Develop digital advertising opportunities (Google & Facebook ads); produce reports as requested on digital impact (google analytics)
• Prepare and send out a monthly e-newsletter via Vertical Response or Mailchimp
• Co-ordinate with partner venues to manage and deliver a successful ticketing and venue-led marketing campaign; monitor audience figures and box office data reports as required
• Run our own ticketing via TicketSource for digital concerts and fundraising events, inputting required data fields and responding to customer enquiries
• Work with the Development Manager to create and drive digital fundraising campaigns
• Assist at concerts, events, Friends' events if required

The successful candidate will have:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An interest in the performing arts and, preferably, knowledge of classical orchestral music
• Strong digital marketing skills including WordPress, twitter, facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google Analytics, Google ads, Facebook PPC, CRM systems, SEO
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant marketing and communications position
• Previous proven experience of a successful national/international digital marketing campaign
• Ability to identify digital collaborations to enhance the OOTS brand
• Be a self-starter with passion and enthusiasm for the performing arts who wants to take OOTS to the next level
