The RCM also achieved an overall rating of gold for its outstanding teaching and learning provision for undergraduates in the first ever Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The RCM is looking to appoint a Performance & Programming and Students’ Union Assistant to work across its Performance & Programming (P&P) department, which is at the centre of College life facilitating many of the rehearsals and concerts that take place within the College and at external venues, as well as supporting the thriving Student’s Union (SU). The team is based in the Exchange, the student facing administrative hub of the RCM.

The successful applicant will be joining these dedicated departments in an exciting working environment and will work closely with other staff, students, professors and visiting artists. The postholder will support the work of the Orchestra Manager, including administrating the Leave of Absence process; assist the Concert & Venue Manager in setting up rehearsals both onsite and offsite; and assist with the work of the Student’s Union and facilitate communications across all relevant departments.

The successful candidate will have the ability to give timely and effective organisational support, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and previous working knowledge of classical music and associated performance requirements. Previous experience of stage management and of working in an academic environment is desirable. The role requires an ability to work proactively, flexibly and creatively on a variety of tasks and will include some evening and occasional weekend work as required.

This post is offered on a permanent, part time (0.6FTE / 21 hours per week) basis and is available from the end of April.
