Orchestra Manager and Player Project Lead

City of London Sinfonia are seeking an experienced Orchestra Manager and Player Project Lead. You will be responsible for the fixing and scheduling of the musicians, for the management of all contracts and personnel systems within the Orchestra and for ensuring that the required complement of musicians is provided for each session. You will ensure the smooth running of each playing rehearsal/session or concert, providing back-stage support at concerts and other events both in the UK and abroad. You will lead on the day-to-day management of the Orchestra. CLS works closely with key partners like Opera Holland Park and St Paul’s Cathedral, and the Orchestra Manager is a lynchpin in those relationships, supporting the CEO and producing team in the management of the CLS brand and quality of performance.
We are also looking for someone who is curious beyond the fixing and logistical orchestral administration, someone who wants to be part of the artistic and creative development of CLS. CLS is developing larger scale projects with theatre companies, science organisations and international partners and experience beyond concert-platform would be invaluable. This would be mean supporting the professional development of musicians, being a liaison for creative ideation and workshops, supporting the Creative Director (and Leader) in repertoire decisions, and working closely with the Producing Team to ensure co-productions (beyond the concert platform) are dynamically engaged with by the orchestral musicians, as well as appropriately fixed to the needs of the project.
Contract: Permanent, 4 days/week 0.8 (32 hours per week to be managed flexibly as delivery requires)
Salary: 30-35k FTE (24k-28k pro rata-ed to 0.8), dependent on experience
