Association of British Orchestras

Awards

The ABO has a long history of rewarding best practice in the orchestral sector through annual awards.

There are currently three categories of awards:

  • ABO Award, presented annually to the individual or institution considered by the membership to have made the most important contribution to the orchestral life of the UK.
  • ABO/RPS Salomon Award, celebrating the ‘unsung heroes' of orchestral life, the orchestral players that make our orchestras great.
  • ABO/Classical Music Awards for Orchestra Manager, Concert Hall Manager and Artist Manager of the Year.

ABO/RPS Orchestra Player Award

The Orchestra Player Award (formerly the Salomon Prize) was launched in 2011 by the Royal Philharmonic Society and Association of British Orchestras to celebrate the ‘unsung heroes' of orchestral life; the orchestral players that make our orchestras great.

ABO/Classical Music Awards

As part of the ABO's long history of rewarding best practice in the orchestral sector, we are delighted to be partnered with Classical Music in championing colleagues who have gone the extra mile.

Annual Conference

The next ABO conference will take place in Leeds, hosted by Opera North, from 1-3 February 2023.
