City of London Sinfonia is inviting applications for the position of Violin Extra.

ABOUT CITY OF LONDON SINFONIA
City of London Sinfonia (CLS) is an award-winning chamber orchestra with a robust and varied
calendar of concerts, touring, and ground-breaking participation work. We bring distinctive
programming to venues ranging from Queen Elizabeth Hall to children’s hospitals to Opera Holland
Park, where we have been orchestra in residence for 20 years. Directed from the violin by Leader
Alexandra Wood, CLS is a dynamic, collaborative ensemble known for delivering first-class
performances in relaxed settings to diverse audiences throughout London and the UK.

APPLICATION
Please send your CV to orchestra@cls.co.uk, specifying experience that shows an aptitude for
chamber music. Your CV should highlight an understanding of the diversity of CLS’s engagements
and demonstrate your ability to play different styles of music in a variety of contexts and in
ensembles of different sizes. CVs will be anonymised.

Closing date for applications is 30 October 2024.

AUDITION
Auditions will take place on 5 December 2024 at Peregrine’s Pianos, 137 Grays Inn Rd, London,
WC1X 8TU. Please let us know if you have any access requirements.
Candidates must be prepared to present a five-minute solo piece of their choosing and a reasonable
number of excerpts which will be sent by email upon invitation to audition.
Auditions will be screened, and the panel will include an impartial external member.
Please indicate in your email whether you are available to audition on 5 December. Further auditions
will be held on another date to be confirmed in the new year.
