Lucy Galliard
Chief Executive,
Sinfonia Viva
Lucy began her career with Live Music Now, as an administrator for the Yorkshire & Lincolnshire branch and over the following 10 years held a number of positions within the organisation, including Acting Executive Director for a year in 2013.
In 2014 she joined the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra as Director of Learning and Engagement where she oversaw the development and delivery of all aspects of the orchestra’s activity within the community, including all work with children and young people, the CBSO Youth Orchestra and the choral programme. During her time at the CBSO she established Relaxed concerts for children and young people with additional needs and a series of Dementia Friendly concerts at the CBSO Centre, introduced a range of new programmes for schools, developed a Youth Ambassadors programme for young people aged 16 – 21, increased training opportunities for musicians working within Learning & Participation activity, and undertook the management of the BBC Proms Youth Choir for four years.
Lucy joined Sinfonia Viva in January 2022 as Chief Executive. As the only professional orchestra based in the East Midlands, an area covering 6,500 square miles, Sinfonia Viva provides access to orchestral performances for communities who otherwise would have little or no access to live classical music. Sinfonia Viva also has a national reputation for delivering high quality co-creation programmes enabling and empowering communities to work alongside orchestral musicians in person-centred creative projects.
Lucy is Chair of the Board at Accessible Arts and Media, a York based charity supporting children and adults with additional needs through inclusive music projects.
