The Royal College of Music (RCM) is one of the world's greatest conservatoires. Our excellence was recognised by the 2021 QS World University Rankings, in which we ranked as the top institution for performing arts in the UK for the sixth consecutive year, and top in Europe for second year running.

At the RCM we are passionate about equipping our students with the skills to flourish as 21st Century musicians. Our Alexander Technique provision is well established in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, providing structured routes for students to develop their knowledge and practical skills in this subject area. We also provide students with extra-curricular Alexander lessons which focus on specific student needs in posture and performance. We are seeking an experienced and inspirational individual to contribute to teaching in these areas.

As an Alexander professor you will teach multiple classes for the FHEQ Levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 (undergraduate and postgraduate). Using the RCM’s Alexander teaching equipment and facilities, you will support and enhance the development of the RCM’s students in singing, instrumental playing and composing at all levels.

You will be an experienced Alexander teacher with a track record of working in classical music. You will be an outstanding communicator who is able to deliver teaching appropriate to students of all disciplines. You will ideally have previous experience of teaching and assessment at university level. You will have awareness of equality and diversity issues in the discipline, and inclusive approaches to teaching.

We particularly welcome applications from black and ethnically diverse applicants, as these groups are currently under-represented in this area at the College.

This role is available from September 2022, with teaching commencing during w/c 19th September 2022. It is expected that classes will be timetabled on Mondays, Thursdays or Fridays.
