Assistant Archivist
HARRISON/PARROTT LIMITED £27,000 pa prorated £16,200 3 days per week Closing date 13 November 2022
Job purpose
A role pro-actively support Jasper Parrott CEO with the focus on creating archives for all Harrison Parrott materials including documents, programmes, audio-visual and audio materials.
A high level of professional and personal confidentiality and discretion will be essential. It is essential that you are fluent in German.
Key accountabilities
-To participate in the development and cataloguing of the Harrison Parrott Collection (HPC).
-Creating a timeline/history of Jasper Parrott’s working life, which will also involve sorting and cataloguing about 15 years’ worth of concert programmes/important meetings notes.
-To implement professional international recognised catalogue standards for the HPC
-To support the work on the Harrison Parrott Collection by receiving, identifying and processing materials to be included un the HPC
-To transcribe and edit interviews of Harrison Parrott staff and artists.
-To edit and proofread all references according to CEO’s criteria.
-To digitise documents for the Harrison Parrott collection.
-To support the CEO by revising the texts.
-To carry out any necessary administrative tasks in relation to the post.
-To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post that may reasonably be required.
-The post holder must be prepared to work flexibly.
Skills and Experience
-Fluent in German and English. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
-Solid organisation skills with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail
-Experience (be it in training) of working within an archive
-Experience of (be it in training) working with databases.
-Experience (be it in training) of cataloguing to recognised standards.
-Experience of (be it in training) conducting research in private and public archives.
-A sound understanding of national and international Copyright Law.
-Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
-Ability to work accurately under pressure, prioritise and adapt to meet deadlines and the needs of the team.
-Fluency in French is required.
Desirable
-A good knowledge of and active interest in classical music.
-Educated to undergraduate degree level
