This role sits within the Learning team for the BBC Proms and London-based BBC Orchestras and Choirs, dedicated to creating high-quality, inclusive learning experiences that engage diverse audiences with orchestral and choral music. The team’s mission is to inspire a love of music across all backgrounds, nurture emerging talent, and support the wider music education sector through collaboration and innovation. The role contributes to national initiatives like BBC Young Composer, BBC Open Music, and BBC Ten Pieces, while also developing engagement programmes aligned with the BBC’s strategic goals and new East Bank location. Our programmes broadly sit across three core strands: Schools, Family and Community & Talent Development and Careers

You’ll collaborate across departments including Live Events, Marketing, and Communications, and engage with a wide range of musical genres and platforms, from Radio 2 pop collaborations to Radio 3 contemporary commissions. This is a dynamic, creative environment where your work will have national reach and global impact through the BBC’s extensive broadcast network. The 2025 Proms season runs from 18 July – 13 September.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Support the Senior Learning Manager and Learning Producers in delivering the Learning Strategy for the BBC Proms and London Orchestras and Choirs.
Assist the Learning Producers on the planning, coordination and delivery of a diverse range of learning programmes. These include national initiatives such as BBC Young Composer and Open Music, school and teacher engagement in East London, family and early years concerts across the UK, and talent development projects for emerging creatives
Lead on the project management and administration of specific learning programme strands. Key duties include creating timelines and schedules, coordinating with project leaders and musicians, booking venues, managing budget updates, and providing on-the-ground support at events, concerts, and workshops.
Collaborate with Learning Producers to review and evaluate projects, measuring impact and effectiveness against strategic goals.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a range of external and internal stakeholders, including BBC musicians, freelance artists, partner organisations and programme participants.
Work closely with the marketing, digital and publicity teams to maximise audience development opportunities, ensuring clear and consistent with existing and prospective audiences.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Proven experience in coordinating or managing projects, ensuring effective planning and delivery
Active interest and enthusiasm for music, live events, and/or the cultural education sector.
Commitment to creating inclusive opportunities for people of all backgrounds to participate in arts and culture.
Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively with a wide range of people, both internally and externally.
Show a creative and imaginative approach to growing and diversifying our audiences through live and digital programmes.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks to deadlines, and operate both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Experience of managing a project budget
Understanding of safeguarding, child protection practices and health & safety regulations
Experience of developing project objectives and key performance indicators
