Board Chair
Britten Sinfonia unremunerated but travel expenses and access costs will be reimbursed Closing date 09 May 2022
For nearly 30 years, Britten Sinfonia has been a fresh and invigorating force on the UK’s orchestral scene. Its commitment to quality in everything it does is matched by its compulsion to surprise, challenge and experiment. It has blazed a trail, its energy reinventing and recharging its sector, inspiring a generation of young, rule-breaking music ensembles whose voices are similarly bold and unconventional.
In 2022 the orchestra is still about adventure, reinvention and about doing things first and differently. It is, if anything, even more determined to pursue its core purpose of connecting the raw energy of its musicians with the human electricity of a live audience. It has also reconnected in new, deep ways with its Eastern England roots and communities and is both more local and more global.
Now Britten Sinfonia is seeking a new Chair to lead its Board and play a key role in the orchestra’s next chapter. We are particularly interested to hear from applicants who will bring new perspectives on strategy, fundraising and finance, and who are excited to commit time to the orchestra and support its Chief Executive/Artistic Director.
We are also keen for our Board to reflect and represent all the audiences and communities that we work with and to share our organisational values and our commitment to Arts Council England’s four Investment Principles: Inclusivity & Relevance, Ambition & Quality, Dynamism and Environmental Responsibility.
This role is unremunerated but travel expenses and access costs will be reimbursed. Full details of the role and time commitment are in the Information Pack which can be downloaded from our website via the link below.
