Association of British Orchestras

Board Member - IAYO

Irish Association of Youth Orchestras Unpaid, with expenses Closing date 15 September 2025
The IAYO board are seeking nominations from members for election to the board at the Annual General Meeting to be held on Sunday, 5 October 2025 at the Gibson Hotel, Dublin.

IAYO are inviting applications from individuals who share our commitment to supporting and developing youth orchestras across Ireland. As a member of our Board, you’ll play a vital role in guiding our strategy, ensuring good governance, and helping us create opportunities for young musicians nationwide.

IAYO primarily recruits board members from amongst its own membership, ensuring a good geographical spread of representation and diversity of voices. IAYO also welcomes directors from outside the membership who have a particular interest in our work. When recruiting to the board, IAYO actively seeks board members with skills they wish to contribute e.g., legal / governance skills, finance, human resources, youth work, marketing, musicianship and education.

Nominations close on Monday, 15 September 2025.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in:
- Governance – ensuring strong oversight and accountability
- Human Resources – supporting best practice in people management
- Fundraising – helping us grow resources to support our mission

We are also seeking a Minuting Secretary to record and produce accurate minutes of Board meetings. This role may be taken by a Board member or by someone wishing to contribute without becoming a Director. If you are passionate about youth music and can bring your skills to our organisation, we would love to hear from you.

You can find out what is involved in being on the IAYO Board by viewing our Board Handbook via the link below.
