Chief Executive
Philharmonia Commensurate with Experience Closing date 06 March 2022
The Philharmonia is seeking a new Chief Executive to be the artistic and administrative head of the Orchestra. The Chief Executive will report to the Board.
Key responsibilities:
• Drive the implementation of the Orchestra’s mission and strategy in consultation with the Board.
• Maintain and enhance the Philharmonia’s brand as a world class orchestra through a challenging and exciting artistic programme, both in the UK and overseas.
• Lead and manage critical relationships with both artists, notably the Principal Conductor, and players and staff through strong internal communications and controls.
• Manage the Orchestra’s relationships with key stakeholders, especially Arts Council England, and business partners.
Candidate Specification:
• Charismatic leader with senior management experience in a symphony orchestra or relevant organisation.
• Recognised leader in the performing arts sector.
• Exceptional communication and management skills.
• Innovator who can develop the Orchestra’s tradition of presenting classical music in new digital formats.
