JOB OVERVIEW
Orchestra of the Swan (The Swan) is a professional chamber orchestra with orchestral residencies in Stratford upon Avon, at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, The Courtyard Hereford, Coventry University & Warwick Hall. With a national and international reputation, The Swan performs around 45 concerts per year, supported by a nationally recognised programme of community activity in care homes, dementia cafés and schools regionally.

We are looking for a creative person, with an interest in working in the community, to support our Director of Impact & Learning with the logistics of delivering a dementia friendly veterans music workshop currently based at The Courtyard, Hereford.

JOB PURPOSE AND ROLE:
To assist and support the Director of Impact & Learning to co-ordinate an effective music workshop for veterans living in Herefordshire, alongside The Swan professional musicians for:

• Armed Forces veterans and/or their immediate family in Herefordshire living with mild to moderate dementia, social isolation, mental health challenges or experiencing loneliness. To work with the local community, Health & Social Care Professionals, and other organisations, to promote and ensure a clear referral pathway to the project.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• To work with the DoIL to coordinate the logistics of workshops/masterclass delivery in the workshop, providing structure and leadership in the provision of the projects for service users.
o To assist setting up and taking down the facilities for the provision of the service.
o To carry out assessments of service users and reviews on a 3-monthly basis for evaluation purposes (under guidance of the DoIL), along with the collation of case studies for reporting.
o To ensure the recording of all activity and service user and carer information for monitoring and reporting purposes.

To monitor and record attendee/participant/members’ details to enable the organisation to provide appropriate person-centred feedback for evaluation and reporting.
o To work closely with musicians and volunteers to ensure service users receive a person-centred service that attends to each individual’s physical and emotional needs wherever possible. (This does not
include the provision of personal care).
o To provide activity co-ordination in a safe and social environment (nonclinical) for people living with mild to moderate dementia and their family members, and for school pupils.
o To provide opportunities for service users and carers to discuss issues that are concerning them and to refer on for more specialist help where appropriate.
o To collect, where appropriate, any fees due to the organisation.
o To maintain the profile of the Projects within the local community so that they are well-known and accessible and, in conjunction with other relevant organisations, respond to requests from the local community and referrers for information.
o To ensure the staff and volunteers comply with all legal requirements and the Policies and Procedures of Orchestra of the Swan.
• To be the first point of contact for issues to do with the premises where the project is hosted. Any issues must be reported immediately to the Director of Impact & Learning or Orchestra Manager as appropriate.
Extra Requirements
• The successful applicant will be subjected to an enhanced DBS check.
• The successful applicant must be able to drive and hold a clean driving licence.
