Director, Music Programme

Britten Pears Arts £60,000 - £65,000 Closing date 17 May 2021
Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast. It was created in 2020 when the two long established charities which formed the legacy of Britten and Pears’ life and work, Snape Maltings (formerly Aldeburgh Music) and Britten-Pears Foundation came together.

We are at an exciting stage of our history, as we look to recover and open up again after the pandemic and build on the unique range and quality of our work, not least our leadership role in the field of music and health. Proud to be rooted in our local community, we are also recognised as a nationally and internationally acclaimed music and arts organisation and creative centre. Widely known for the Aldeburgh Festival, our increasingly diverse year-round programme of events reaches out to an ever wider public, realising Britten’s belief that music should be used to transform and improve lives.

Developing talent, reaching out to communities and using music and the arts to support health and well-being are threads that link all of our strands of work and this role is at the heart of what we do. As part of the organisation’s leadership team, the Director will line manage the team of creative heads who deliver our music programmes across all its areas of work.

We are looking for some who is already a recognised leader in the field of music, with a proven track record of delivering programmes to a diverse range of audiences. Strategic planning, developing opportunities to enrich the diversity and distinctiveness of our work, building partnerships and reaching new audiences, combined with the ability to bring teams and people together to deliver our vision, are essential criteria.

We are an equal opportunities employer and believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates of all ages and from all backgrounds, in particular those from minority ethnic backgrounds and disabled candidates who are currently under-represented at Britten Pears Arts.
