Director of Marketing and Communication
Britten Pears Arts £60,000 - £65,000 Closing date 27 June 2022
Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast. It was created in 2020 when the two long established charities which formed the legacy of Britten and Pears’ life and work, Snape Maltings (formerly Aldeburgh Music) and Britten-Pears Foundation came together.
This is an exciting, pivotal new role which has been created to lead all marketing and communications activity within a unique environment. Our activities include a year-round public performance programme with Aldeburgh Festival at its centre; an extensive range of charitable activities; a trading arm - Snape Maltings - with its large retail, catering and destination offer; and The Red House, Aldeburgh, the former home of Britten and Pears and now a heritage property and garden open for visitors.
As an effective communicator the successful candidate will build and maintain productive relationships externally and internally. Embedded in all aspects of this multi-faceted organisation, a priority will be to develop a coherent strategy to effectively deliver key messages and stories. They will also be responsible for devising the marketing strategy for box office sales, Snape Maltings Trading Ltd and our two visitor destinations as well as reviewing and managing our brands.
Our ideal candidate will work well with a broad remit, in an exciting environment, and will have a proven track record, gained in a similar role, within a commercial, charitable or cultural organisation. With a genuine interest and passion for music and the arts, along with the ability to develop and implement a clear strategy, they will be keen to reach new and diverse audiences, and will have first-hand experience of the digital marketing and communications landscape. We are looking for someone with established leadership skills and who is committed to supporting their team’s creative and professional development.
We are an equal opportunities employer and believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us.
We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates of all ages and from all backgrounds, in particular from minority ethnic backgrounds and disabled candidates who are currently under-represented at Britten Pears Arts.
