The Director of Royal Northern Sinfonia & Classical Music Programme will lead the vision, strategy, and practical delivery for Sage Gateshead's classical music, through the Royal Northern Sinfonia and the organisation's classical music programming and will hold a wider strategic role as a member of the Leadership Team. They will be responsible for delivering a programme that will serve a socio- economically broad audience across a large geographical catchment in the building, in work across the region and online. The Director will plan and deliver the classical programme in the context of Sage Gateshead's wider offer, which comprises multi-genre performances, an ambitious creative learning programme, and a focus on artist development, working collaboratively with colleagues in the organisation.

Sage Gateshead plays an important role in the national music ecology, as well as serving the North. The Director will contribute to the UK's classical music landscape in the 21st century by further defining the distinct identity of Royal Northern Sinfonia and the wider classical programme, and through effective advocacy.

The Director reports to the Managing Director of Sage Gateshead and is responsible for the orchestra, the Classical team and directly for four senior leaders: Senior Producer, Classical; Head of Stage and Orchestra: Head of Artistic Planning (vacant); and Head of Classical Marketing.

The Director is a member of Sage Gateshead's Leadership Team, comprising six Directors: Managing Director; Chief Operating Officer; Director of Finance & HR; Director of External Relations and Strategic Development; Director of Contemporary Music and Creative Learning; Director of Royal Northern Sinfonia and Classical Music Programme.
