Association of British Orchestras

Event Co-ordinator, BBC Radio 3 & Proms

BBC £30k + according to skills & experience Closing date 22 March 2023
The BBC Proms is the biggest classical music festival in the world. We run over 100 live events over 2 months in the summer at the Royal Albert Hall in London and venues around the UK. Nearly everything we do is broadcast across BBC Radio, TV and online. We are a creative, innovative festival that connects with audiences around the UK and across the globe.

You would be part of a dynamic team that looks after Live Events, Marketing, Learning, Communications, Publications and Business. You will build skills in the Live Events Team and get the chance to work at events.

In any single week at the BBC Proms you could be working on events for singer Cynthia Erivo, the London Symphony Orchestra with conductor Simon Rattle, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, sitar-player Anoushka Shankar and the BBC Orchestras and Choirs. We want the Proms to be for everyone and are looking for people to help us do that.

We’re looking for Event Co-ordinators to join the Live Events Team. It will give you the opportunity to work as part of a small team that puts on all the concerts and events for the BBC Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Your main role is to help plan and co-ordinate the detailed logistics of each concert through to the running of events on site for live audiences and broadcast on Radio and TV.

Please read carefully through the required knowledge and experience on the first page of the Job Description and if that sounds like you, then do apply.

We are looking for a positive team player who:

- Shows an in-depth knowledge of how orchestras and choirs work.
- Has experience of working on live classical music events
- Has strong organisational skills and a good eye for detail.
- Works and communicates collaboratively with a wide range of people.
- Has a good knowledge of general office IT packages.
- Shows an awareness of Health and Safety issues for live events

You will be required to work long hours and some weekends on events across the year – particularly over the duration of the Proms season. Some days each week during the festival will be spent working on site at events.
