Finance Assistant

Orchestra of the Swan, a charity operating in the Performing Arts sector, is looking for a part-time accounts assistant to support the Finance Manager in running the day-to-day finance function.

Orchestra of the Swan is a professional chamber orchestra with orchestral residencies in Stratford upon Avon, at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, The Courtyard Hereford, Warwick Hall and Coventry University. With a national and international reputation, The Swan performs around 45 concerts per year, supported by a nationally recognised programme of community activity in care homes, dementia cafés and schools regionally.
The office team at The Swan is small and it is expected that the holder of this role will be comfortable being a member of that team and will provide support to their colleagues as required.
The role
• Inputting data into Xero (sales, purchase and expenses)
• Supplier payments and remittances
• Bank account reconciliations
• Maintenance and reconciliation of petty cash
• Assist in ad hoc tasks and reports as and when required
• General admin tasks

We'd be delighted to hear from you if you have
• 2 years + relevant experience working ideally in the not-for-profit sector
• recently qualified or are part qualified / qualified by experience
• experience in liaising with non-finance stakeholders
• experience in using Xero accounting software
• good working knowledge of MS Software (Excel/Word)
• high accuracy and attention to detail
• an interest in, and understanding of the performing arts
