Finance Manager

Orchestra of the Swan is a professional chamber orchestra with a rising national and international reputation for innovation and quality. The Swan’s annual turnover is £800k+, generated from a combination of conventional classical music concerts and a more esoteric Night Owl series, with guest artists from the jazz and folk genre, complimented by recordings and digital events. The Swan is committed to working in the community and provides a nationally recognised programme in care homes, dementia cafés, schools and in rural communities.
Currently based in offices in Stratford upon Avon, The Swan will be relocating to Warwick
School in February 2023, an ideal location to maximise our residency at Warwick Hall. In

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance Manager is responsible for the financial management and viability of the business supported by the Finance Assistant. We are looking for a well organised, self-motivated person with an adaptable, flexible, hands-on approach to provide clear, accurate and relevant financial information to all stakeholders inside and outside the organisation.
Duties include:
• Monthly financial reporting
• Budgeting and cash flow forecasting
• Payroll
• VAT, Gift Aid, Orchestra Tax Relief Returns
• Preparation of annual accounts
• Liaison with external auditors
• Compliance with HMRC and other regulatory bodies including Charity Commission and Companies House
Requirements
Skills essential to the role:
• Qualified in a recognised accountancy qualification such as ACCA or CIMA
• Strong general practical accounting knowledge and experienced in preparation of management accounts and reports
• Proven history in leadership of accounting function in SME business or organisation
Additional skills desirable for the role:
• Xero accreditation
• Working knowledge of charity accounting
• Previous experience working in the arts or other not for profit organisations
