Finance Officer
London Sinfonietta £23,500-25,500 pro rata (2 days a week position) Closing date 03 January 2023
The London Sinfonietta is one of the world's leading contemporary music ensembles with an ethos to constantly experiment with the art form, working with the world's best composers, performers and artists, collaborating with young people, communities and the public in music projects often involving film, theatre, dance and art.
The role of Finance Officer is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong numeracy skills, familiarity with Excel and experience of book-keeping (and/or financial administration) who would like to develop a career in charity finance and is interested in working in the arts, as part of a small, supportive team.
The candidate will need to demonstrate a strong level of numeracy and financial awareness, meticulous attention to detail, confidence working with Excel and good organisational skills. Ideally you will have been working in a finance administration or book-keeping role, although the exact experience is less important than the ability to deal with numbers and process data in a confident, methodical and accurate way .
The post-holder will assist the Head of Finance in undertaking most of the key book-keeping tasks and in helping to deal with all finance related administration. This will include purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions, preparing and issuing payments to freelance orchestral players (working with the events team and General Manager), ensuring the timely payment of suppliers, checking and processing income statements from key venues at which the ensemble performs and dealing with any arising finance related queries. The post-holder will also support the General Manager with some aspects of general office administration including fielding general enquiries.
This is a part time position, and we offer a hybrid home and office working arrangement.
