Front of House Manager

Southbank Sinfonia at St John's Smith Square £28,000 Closing date 02 January 2023
Southbank Sinfonia at St John’s Smith Square is the exciting coming together of two much-loved and well-respected music organisations: the orchestra - Southbank Sinfonia, and the venue – St John’s Smith Square. Now one organisation, with a unified management structure, Southbank Sinfonia at St John’s Smith Square is a dynamic beacon for classical music.

St John’s Smith Square is home to our orchestral fellowship programme, Southbank Sinfonia, and serves as a concert venue hosting public and private performances, rehearsals and recording sessions, filming, workshops and private events. Our in-house catering operation, the Footstool café-bar, is located in the crypt and operates a daytime café service and an evening bar for concerts and events. Our team works mainly across two sites – the venue itself and also a rented office space located close by at 4 Millbank.

This role is essential to the smooth-running of events taking place in our unique Grade 1 listed concert venue, ensuring a first-class standard of customer service for all visitors and a safe and secure environment for members of the public and Front of House/Events staff whilst in the venue. As part of our growing team (currently comprising 19 permanent and 30 casual staff), this the Front of House Manager will lead on management of live events, including ensuring an appropriate level of staffing for our busy diary, including live concerts, private receptions and commercial hire activity.

The deadline for applications is Monday 2 January 2023 at 5pm. Interviews are anticipated to take place in person in the week commencing 19 January. If you have any questions about the role, please contact Lydia Brookes (Head of Operations & Deputy Director) by email lydia@sjss.org.uk.
