Association of British Orchestras

General Manager

Paraorchestra £28,000-£30,000 Closing date 19 March 2020
We are changing the face of the 21st Century orchestra through our work as a large-scale producer of inclusive, ambitious contemporary music events. Since our charity was launched in 2015, Paraorchestra has been on a steep and successful path of growth. Innovative audience-centred artistic work has re-purposed the concept of what an orchestra can be, integrating disabled musicians within its ranks and provoking emotive and enthralled responses.

Our work is made for concert halls, festival stages and venues that don’t traditionally programme orchestral work, and we work across the United Kingdom and, increasingly, internationally. In 2019, we delivered almost 30 performances and reached over 28,000 people.

We’re looking to a bright future; one in which we continue to stretch our artistic ambition, reaching increasing numbers of venues and festivals and broadening our engagement with emerging talent and with new technology. To do this we are setting ourselves some stretching targets and we want to expand our team to achieve these goals.

The role of General Manager is a new post at Paraorchestra, and you will be instrumental in supporting the organisation at a pivotal moment in its journey. You will underpin our ambitious artistic programme with a resilient model of working. We’ve grown very quickly over the last two years and we now need to make sure the way we run our business is fit for purpose. You will take the lead on the financial management of the organisation, develop best practice efficient resourcing and operational management of our office systems, and ensure the excellent day to day and long-term operational success of Paraorchestra.
