Head of Participation & Learning (maternity cover)

The London Sinfonietta is renowned for its education & community programme, which has evolved over the past 35 years, and which comprises three main areas; public participation opportunities linked to concerts and events, schools and community engagement and talent development programmes offering world-class training to instrumentalists, composers and conductors.

We are now seeking a Head of Participation & Learning to start in late April or May for a 12 month (maternity leave) contract. The postholder will work closely with the Chief Executive, external practitioners and internal colleagues to devise and deliver high quality programmes which have a relevant and powerful impact on people from all sections of society and deliver on the organisation’s artistic and strategic objectives including those of Arts Council England’s 10 year strategy ‘Let’s Create’.

The role would be suitable for a candidate with a track record of creating high quality learning and participation work, with excellent project management, leadership and budgetary skills and good working knowledge of educational policies and legislation including safeguarding. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both strategy as well as delivery, initiating and developing effective relationships across a range of arts and educational institutions and working closely with some of today’s most exciting contemporary musicians, composers and artists.

We are offering this position on a part time basis – 4 days a week (salary between £32,000-35,000 depending on experience, pro rata)
