NYOS Ambassadors
National Youth Orchestras of Scotland £100 per day Closing date 16 January 2023
The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) is seeking to appoint up to 12 Ambassadors who will receive training and paid work to nurture and develop their skills in engaging, tutoring and working with young musicians. We are looking for enthusiastic young people who are keen to expand their skillset and evolve as musicians. If you feel this sounds familiar, we would love to hear from you.
NYOS recognises the challenges many young people face in building a career in the music industry, and the need for paid work and training opportunities. We have created our NYOS Ambassador roles to provide a structured programme encompassing training, mentoring and employment experience suitable for young people beginning their career journey.
The NYOS Ambassadors will work with dedicated Mentors to build individual training plans and receive bespoke training, before shadowing and co-leading opportunities at NYOS 2023 residential courses. There will also be opportunities to further connect through NYOS Engage projects in schools and communities across Scotland. As well as supporting the development of senior musicians on the cusp of their professional careers, the Ambassador scheme will also seek to futureproof the industry for future generations by offering a valuable opportunity to gain teaching experience within a national organisation.
These are entry-level positions for candidates aged 20 up to, and including, 25 years old, best suited to recent music graduates, current music students or those with a strong foundation in music and ability to play an instrument to ABRSM Grade 8 standard or equivalent. If you are applying to become a member of NYOS yourself in 2023, you are still eligible to apply for this separate opportunity.
All successful applicants will be paid to attend training sessions before commencing work.
