Orchestra Personnel Manager (based in London office)

The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the UK’s leading orchestras and Orchestra in Residence at the University of Oxford, seeks a highly motivated Orchestral Personnel Manager. The role will focus mainly on booking and contracting Oxford Philharmonic orchestral players for performances and recordings as directed by the Music Director, according to MU and the Orchestra’s own regulations.

Other duties will include effective and proactive administrative support in communication and correspondence and diary and management for the Music Director.

This is a permanent, full-time role, based in our London office. The holiday entitlement is 20 days plus 8 bank holidays. Regular travel to Oxford will be required (3-4 times per month). Some evening and weekend work will be necessary for rehearsals and concerts, with an in-lieu scheme in place to cover out of hours working.

The successful candidate will be given intensive training in using the Orchestra’s database systems.

Principal Responsibilities:
• Booking and contracting musicians for all Oxford Philharmonic concerts
• Sending schedules to musicians of the orchestra and ensuring their practical requirements on concert days are met
• Assisting the Music Director with his correspondence and diary management
• Assisting musicians with visa and travel requirements
• Preparing monthly payments for orchestral players, and processing player invoices
• Work with other members of the concerts management team to provide back-stage support at concerts and other events

Essential abilities/qualifications:
• Education to degree level
• Experience working in the classical music business
• Excellent IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using databases
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise a large number of varied tasks with multiple deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with professional musicians
• Very good attention to detail
• Ability to work calmly under pressure
• Ability to deal thoughtfully and professionally with delicate situations
• Good knowledge of and active interest in classical music

Desirable abilities/qualifications:
• Degree in music
• Experience in an Orchestra/Concerts Management role

The role will be based in our North London office. Salary according to experience.
