Planning Manager (Based in London Office)
Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra Competitive salary according to experience Closing date 21 January 2022
Main purpose of job:
To work with the Music Director to plan concerts and projects for future seasons, and to expand the work of the orchestra both in the UK and overseas.
Principal accountabilities:
• Liaising with venues: booking dates for rehearsals and concerts and negotiating the financial terms and contractual arrangements
• Liaising with agents: booking artists on the instructions of and in agreement with the Music Director for concerts and negotiating fees
• Liaising with guest artists and the OPO’s concert management team to ensure that all requirements are met e.g. programme, rehearsal timings, string strengths
• Drawing up contracts for guest artists and checking invoices
• Promoting and selling the orchestra to new venues, festivals and agents, both in the UK and abroad
• Managing the Venues, Festivals and Events sections of the office database to ensure that all new dates are added and all the relevant information is up to date
• Liaising with the Orchestral Personnel Manager regarding all future dates to ensure that the musicians have the right information
• Liaising with the Orchestra’s PR and Marketing Officer
Applicant Profile:
Essential abilities/qualifications:
• Excellent knowledge of and interest in classical music
• Experience of working in music administration
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
• Good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office software
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks
Preferred abilities/qualifications:
• Experience of liaising with agents and negotiating fees
• Experience of sales
• Experience of working with databases
