Professorial Staff – Academic Studies (Music)

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance £53.78 - £63.12 per hour Closing date 01 January 2023
Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is a forward thinking, contemporary and world-class Higher Education Institution with a vision to redefine the conservatoire for the 21st century.

Integral to the Faculty of Music are the learning opportunities provided by the Academic Studies Department, who deliver core academic and vocational learning across all programmes of study within the Faculty. The team of Academic Studies teaching staff – many of whom also contribute to instrumental/vocal/composition teaching within the Faculty – each exemplify the multi-faceted skillset of modern musicians and thus provide important exemplars for students.

The Faculty of Music seeks to appoint a suitably qualified candidate to a part-time, hourly-paid fixed term teaching position from January 2023 to June 2023. The successful candidate will have expertise in the field of historical musicology and will be expected to contribute to the delivery of the Music, Culture and Society undergraduate module along with other teaching obligations.

There is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to provide online tutorial support for the Faculty’s Certificate: The Practice of Music Making programme on a part-time, hourly paid fixed term basis from January 2023 to June 2023. The tutorial staff form the primary source of support for students, making contact at key points in their study, helping students understand programme material, marking and providing feedback on assignments, and helping them prepare for their end of programme personal project. The Certificate is a one-year 60-credit Level 6 (undergraduate) programme developed by Trinity Laban in partnership with the Open University. It offers adults with a passion for music the opportunity to develop their practical music making and performance skills. It is delivered through distance (online) learning plus a residential learning week at Trinity Laban’s World Heritage Site home in Greenwich. The Certificate is available as a stand-alone programme, but can also count towards degree study with the Open University.

You will have proven higher music education teaching experience, strong research interests, outstanding communication and organisational abilities, excellent IT skills and the capability to deal with a busy and varied workload, within a highly creative environment.

As an equal opportunity employer, we positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
