Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast. It was created in 2020 when the two long-established charities which formed the legacy of Britten and Pears’ life and work, Snape Maltings (formerly Aldeburgh Music) and Britten-Pears Foundation came together.

This is is a 2-year, fixed term, role aimed at candidates who are interested in a career within a dynamic arts organisation. It is ideally suited to someone who is interested in working with diverse communities and as part of a team which is proactively taking music into those communities with the over-arching aim of using music to improve lives.

Our Community team works with families, young people, those in care homes and those in the criminal justice system. An important part of this role will be about supporting colleagues and artists, helping to build positive relationships with participants, and ensuring inclusivity for all. The role focusses on supporting our work with young people and in schools as well as providing support to other members of the Community team.

In particular we are looking for someone who:

Can relate well to, and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
Is interested in working within community-based settings, using music to engage with different groups of people
Enjoys working with, and meeting, people and being part of a team
Has the potential to develop their skills and knowledge
Has clear verbal and written communication skills
Has good attention to detail
Is a confident user of IT (we use Microsoft - Word, Excel and Outlook)

Travelling to deliver projects and work within the communities is an essential part of this role, candidates must have a full driving licence to be able to drive one of our pool vehicles.

The next ABO conference will take place in Gateshead,
hosted by The Glasshouse ICM, from 5-7 February 2025.
