Programme Manager - Britten Pears Young Artists

Britten Pears Arts circa £30,000 Closing date 26 April 2023
Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering cultural charity based in Suffolk. It emerged from the determination of composer Benjamin Britten and his partner, singer Peter Pears, to ensure that everyone could enjoy and experience music. Britten Pears Arts aims to continue their legacy to develop talent, celebrate their heritage and engage with communities.

We use music to transform people’s lives, to bring diverse communities together and enhance daily life. We want the arts to effect powerful positive change in, and for, society; or, as Britten himself would have put it, making the arts “useful.”

The Artist Development team and opera programme works with established artists, young professionals and school-age musicians across a variety of opportunities, including Aldeburgh Young Musicians, the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme and the extended Residencies programme.

This role leads the delivery of the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme (BPYAP), which offers high-level performance training to early-career professional musicians, delivered by the world’s finest performers, teachers and creatives. Each year the programme welcomes around 70 young artists on a series of masterclasses and coaching opportunities, to explore vocal repertoire, chamber repertoire and develop contemporary composition.

We are looking for an experienced professional who is passionate about supporting emerging professionals to develop their technique, knowledge and ultimately their careers in classical and contemporary music. This role requires strategic thinking and detailed planning, enthusiasm and knowledge about classical and contemporary music repertoire, knowledge of artist development and the ability to build meaningful relationships with people at all levels.

We are an equal opportunities employer and believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates of all ages and from all backgrounds, in particular from ethnic minority groups and disabled candidates who are currently under-represented at Britten Pears Arts.
