Programmes Assistant – Artist Development

Britten Pears Arts Up to £19k Closing date 13 August 2021
Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast. It was created in 2020 when the two long-established charities which formed the legacy of Britten and Pears’ life and work, Snape Maltings (formerly Aldeburgh Music) and Britten-Pears Foundation came together.

This is a new role aimed at candidates who are interested in starting a career within a dynamic arts organisation with a strong tradition of nurturing young and new musical talent. It is ideally suited to someone with an interest in working with young and emerging artists and who has a passion for any genre of music. This is a Fixed Term, 2 years, full time contract.

Our Artist Development team delivers the Aldeburgh Young Musicians programme for those aged 10 to 18, the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme for emerging artists and Residencies which can be based at Snape or The Red House, Aldeburgh. An important part of this role will be about supporting the team, helping to build positive relationships with participants and artists, setting up and overseeing rehearsals and projects at Snape, assisting AYM students with financial support and fees, record keeping and helping with the evaluation of projects.

In particular we are looking for someone who:
• Is a confident user of Microsoft Office and IT
• Can relate well to, and build relationships with young musicians and professional artists.
• Enjoys working with people and being part of a team.
• Has the potential to develop their skills and knowledge.
• Has good verbal and written communication skills
• Has good attention to detail.

We are an equal opportunities employer and believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates of all ages and from all backgrounds, in particular from minority groups and disabled candidates who are currently under-represented at Britten Pears Arts.

To apply please visit our website.

Please note: first interviews can be via Zoom if travel to Suffolk is not possible.
