Senior Concert & Orchestra Manager
Royal Academy of Music Salary range: £41,259 - £48,392 per annum inclusive Closing date 06 September 2021
The Academy has a busy and thriving orchestral life, providing comprehensive orchestral and ensemble training and exciting performance opportunities with the many eminent conductors and instrumentalists who regularly work with our students. At the heart of performance activities at the Academy, the Concerts Department manages an intensive annual schedule of around 100 orchestral/ensemble projects both within the Academy and further afield, as well as collaborating with professional partners in side-by-side training schemes and major festivals.
The Senior Concert & Orchestra Manager oversees the delivery of orchestral and ensemble activity, to ensure that a first-class experience of performance activity is offered to our students as part of their training for professional life. Reporting to the Director of Artistic Planning, this role manages three members of staff to ensure the smooth running of all practical aspects of rehearsals and performances within and outside the Academy.
The ideal candidate will have significant previous experience of professional orchestral and concert management working with a wide range of repertoire as well as experience managing a small team. Outstanding interpersonal skills and experience and confidence in artist liaison with high profile musicians as well as an established network of contacts within the orchestral sector are essential. The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, however, flexibility will be required around evening and weekend hours.
