Association of British Orchestras

Senior Development Officer

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra £26,000 Closing date 03 June 2022
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is one of the most dynamic orchestras and arts charities in the UK. With its distinguished history, high artistic ideals and trail-blazing work on and off the concert platform – even in the face of a global pandemic – it has won the hearts and minds of supporters, funders, audiences and media alike.

Due to a promotion within our philanthropy team, and the expansion of our successful fundraising department, we are now looking to recruit an exceptional individual to take on a growing portfolio of mid-level supporters.

The successful candidate will have gained solid individual-giving or major-donor experience in their first or second jobs. They will be keen to make their mark and take responsibility for helping to expand the Orchestra’s individual-giving programme.

We’re looking for someone who is motivated, loves music and has huge enthusiasm for the BSO’s work, both on stage and in the community. You will need to be a natural relationship-builder, have emotional intelligence, and understand what it takes to retain, develop and secure the support of individual donors. Superb written and verbal communication skills are a must. Finally, we’re looking for someone who is highly organised and analytical – able to spot new opportunities from supporter data and turn those insights into fresh new fundraising initiatives. We know that amazing people are hard to come by, so we invest in our staff’s learning and development, making sure people are given opportunities to shine.
If this sounds like you, and you’d like to take your next career step in beautiful Dorset, we’d love to hear from you!
