The Purcell School seeks to appoint a creative and dynamic individual to lead and coordinate its student recruitment and related outreach activity. The successful candidate will possess the skills, experience and personality to build meaningful relationships with other schools, music hubs and youth music organisations to ensure the School can achieve its aim of managed growth over the next five years. The ability to identify and foster new relationships, both nationally and internationally will be vital to the success of this objective. The postholder, who will be an innovative musical animateur, will also conceive, manage, facilitate and deliver a range of exciting outreach events throughout the year aimed at enhanced the School’s reputation and profile, and engaging directly with young musicians for whom the School might become a destination of choice in the future.

We anticipate that the postholder will spend time a proportion of their time “on the road” working with young people as well as with existing and potential feeder institutions. The School’s mission is to seek out and recruit those with the potential to become outstanding musicians from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds and receives dedicated funding from the Department for Education’s Music and Dance Scheme to enable this. We are keen to significantly diversify our intake in the coming years.
