Student Services Manager
The Royal College of Music £48,730 - £55,822 per annum Closing date 08 April 2022
The Royal College of Music (RCM) is one of the world's great conservatoires. Our excellence was recognised by the 2021 QS World University Rankings, in which we ranked as the top institution for performing arts in the UK for the sixth consecutive year, and top in Europe for second year running.
The Student Services Manager manages the full range of student services across the College, providing guidance to students with a range of issues, personal and practical, coordinating support to students with disabilities and managing the counselling service.
This includes maintaining and developing digital services and resources to support and publicise these areas. The Student Services Manager works closely with heads of faculty and of programmes and personal advisers, to help them with the support they provide for individual students.
In a wide ranging and varied role, the Student Services Manager contributes to leadership on equality, diversity and inclusion and mental health initiatives throughout the College. This includes being a key point of contact with the Students’ Union, providing support and encouragement especially with initiatives such as student wellbeing, mental health and EDI. The Student Services Manager also manages the relationship with Prince Consort Village, the College’s Hall of residence.
Other areas include managing and administering the College’s hardship fund, advising applicants on funding, disability support and accommodation.
You will have excellent communication skills, adaptable to a wide range of sensitive and challenging situations, good digital skills, an aptitude for working with young musicians and will have significant experience in providing welfare advice in a professional capacity, preferably in a higher education context.
