Team Assistant, BBC Concert Orchestra (part-time)

The BBC Concert Orchestra is one of the world’s most versatile broadcasting orchestras, with a expertise ranging from light classics, musical theatre and films via the mainstream classical repertoire to opera, jazz and contemporary commissions. On radio, TV and in the concert hall, it has performed with artists as diverse as Earth, Wind & Fire, ELO, Nigel Kennedy, Simon Keenleyside, Kylie Minogue, Danny Elfman, James Morrison, Joseph Calleja, Barry Manilow and Bryn Terfel.

You will provide the BBC Concert Orchestra Management team with a comprehensive administrative service (including diary management, hospitality, travel arrangements, dealing with routine internal and external enquiries). You will be the focal point of contact and liaison between the Director, Concerts and Planning Manager, other members of the senior management team, editorial and managerial colleagues across the BBC, performing arts and music industries. You will undertake a general office management role for the Concert Orchestra administration team.

You will ideally have a good awareness of orchestral music and a creative cultural environment. You will have the ability to manage a busy workload across all areas of the Concert Orchestra administration team - you will be prepared to be flexible in support of the business needs of the unit. You will have excellent communication skills in dealing with people at all levels, internal and external contacts, the members of the public and colleagues within the BBC Concert Orchestra. You will be proficient at systems such as SAP and ACON (or similar) - along with excellent attention to detail especially with data entry and numbers.
