Trust and Foundations Officer

Based in London at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, the Philharmonia creates thrilling performances for a global audience. Through its network of residencies, the Orchestra has a national footprint, serving communities across England both in performance and through its extensive outreach and engagement programme.
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic arts fundraiser with a strong background in administration and an interest in developing their knowledge and expertise in trusts, foundations, and statutory fundraising. Responsible for the day-to-day management of trusts and foundations submissions, reporting, stewardship and general administration, this role will support us to:
• increase engagement with current funders;
• reach new funders;
• and, develop exciting new funding proposals.
Our trusts and foundations team manages funding for a range of projects ranging from large Cultural Recovery Fund bids, to small-scale learning and engagement programmes working with some of our most marginalised audiences.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Manage the grants cycle for a number of our funders and develop a portfolio of smaller funders to manage independently, as well as supporting the Head of Trusts and Foundations to identify, apply to, and steward relationships with medium and higher grant level Trusts and Foundations
• Working with the Head of Trusts and Foundations to implement a comprehensive funding strategy to meet both individual and team annual income targets
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with a portfolio of lower value trust and statutory funders (current and prospective)
• Developing and submitting applications to a range of different funders (current and prospective) with responsibility for our small grants programme (£10K p.a. gifts or lower)
• Researching trusts and foundations prospects and conducting due diligence for the wider development team, as required
• Ensuring all grants are promptly and appropriately thanked, recorded and acknowledged
• Managing Arts Council submissions, timelines, internal updates and administration via email and Grantium (their online portal)
• Providing comprehensive and tailored reports to trust and statutory funders
Amongst the qualities you will need to possess are:
• Experience of building and maintaining relationships at various levels with organisations and external stakeholders
• An understanding of the trusts and foundations grant cycle
• An ability to use own initiative
• The ability to switch between varied tasks
• Confident when managing and updating spreadsheets and budgets
• A team player with a positive approach and ability to undertake initiatives
• A proactive attitude to contributing to achieving the team’s fundraising target
• An interest in music and the arts
