Helen studied music at Surrey University and when she graduated worked as a Hire Librarian at Peters Edition Limited. After several years in publishing, Helen moved to the Orchestra Management team at the Royal Opera House (now part of the Royal Ballet and Opera) where she has been since 2001. She has held several different positions within the department and has been Orchestra Director since 2023.

Helen joined the ABO Board in 2023.
